Bonus novella: A Heart in Love
Whoops! Almost forgot to post this baby too. Included in the first tank of “There is No Future for This Love” is a novella concerning how two characters as different as Masaki and Yuuji ever crossed paths into the broship/unrequited love that exists in the current manga.
Chapter 4: The Butterfly and the Tiger
Remember when Yuuji said he wanted some makeup in chapter 3? Welp, Boy is a man who follows through on his plans. We start the chapter at a department store where Yuuji is looking around the cosmetics section, overwhelmed by all the colors and items for purchase. Before he can grab the nearest lip gloss and run for it, one of the sales ladies comes up and asks if he needs him. With three chapters worth of continuous lying under his belt, Yuuji shoves his fear into his gull bladder and smoothly says he’s here to buy a present for his little sister but has no idea what he’s looking at because he’s a man and men don’t know these things and nothing suspicious here. He throws in a smile and some shojo sparkles to dazzle the sales lady into thinking this is not suspect and not to question when asked about his sister’s description, she’s told the sister looks exactly like Yuuji, complexion, facial structure, and all.
Lady: the sparkles have blinded me to your lies. This way sir. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
(I’m greatly amused how Yuuji thinks: pssft, please. Sister? Bitch I’m totally lying. I just need some help telling the difference between blush and eye shadow ( ‾ʖ̫‾). Like Yuuji, it’s ok. We get it.)
Chapter 3: The Blazing Forest
Chapter 3 starts with the club members reading Yuuji’s novella: The Liar Butterfly. As he waits for them to finish and give feedback, he’s nervously squeezing his hands to the point where his fingers are almost about to go clear through his palms.
Yuuji: maybe I shouldn’t have based my story on a boy butterfly wanting to be a girl…or named the butterfly Yuuji…or his love interested Masaki…shit
Upon getting to the last page, club member “girl I still don’t know what her name is” smiles and tells Yuuji this is his best piece yet.
Yuuji: FUCK YOU THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION I HAVE A DISCLAIMER ANY FACTS MATCHING UP WITH REAL LIFE ARE PURELY COINCIDENTAL IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH oh I mean thank you.
Yesh my friend, be amazed. A Sylph post! Even though we’re 9 months into the new year (where did the time go???), I’m still holding on to my resolution – to write a post about each of the Sylphs released in 2016. Sure I’m only on the February issue, but it’s the actions that count!
In this issue, we saw farewell to 3LDK no Ou-sama. While I liked Sugar Girl, Sugar Doll, I never did get interested in 3LDK no Ou-sama ^^; Well, if anyone is interested, it ends happy (with marriage and kisses).
With every good-bye, there’s a hello waiting behind it. In this case, a new series starts…well, it’s the comic version of a light novel that ran in Sylph – Ayanashi no Kimi! :) I’m super stoked because I’ve always wanted to see what this series was about (I might even grab the light novel to see if maybe my Japanese is decent enough to follow what’s going on now that I have the manga to guide me ^^)
In this issue, I’ll be providing full summaries for the following:
- Ayanashi no Kimi
- Bokura no Himitsu
- Mahou Shoujo wa Mou Inai
- Shiro Ari
Bokura no Himitsu Chapter 2
“Even Players Have Worries, too.”
The protagonist of this new chapter is Asaka Reo. Now that dude from the last chapter has come out as a man who gets hard for shapely thighs, Reo is the new most popular man in town. Reo himself just can’t fathom why ALL THE THIGHS!!! would sacrifice his popularity with the ladies. Sure dude has a girlfriend but shit, she ain’t no diamond. Definitely not someone worth lowering yourself for. But oh well, more ladies for Reo~
Shiro Ari Chapter 59
(haven’t been paying close attention to this series so forgiveness in advance if I miss things ;P)
We continue from the last chapter, with Alice in his new duds and look, posing dramatically for the crowd and readers. Snow White calls down to him, restrained by the Queen of Hearts: dude, you balding???
Alice: I GOT A HAIR CUT YOU STUPID SOW!!!
Chapter 2 starts with Miya staring out the window in his class.
During recess, he walks with his friend, shooting the breeze. While they talk about butts or whatever, we’ve given a few pages to go over what the plot of this manga is, in case we weren’t paying attention to chapter 1 *shrugs. After the explanation, we segue to what happened with the end of chapter 1. Despite Miya telling the evil alien prince he’s got class, the prince told his giant robot to attack. Miya and him ran around town until a SWAT team appeared, scaring off the prince (lol what?). It’s been a week since then and Miya hasn’t seen the prince – which works for him because less hair loss over the stress.
Princes aside, things are still tough for Miya. People see him as Raspberrina, not as the boy named Miya. Guys lust over videos of him as Raspberrina, but tell Miya no homo. People encourage him to fight for them in case things get crazy again. Miya just goes through the motions, hoping each day is more time to erase people’s memories of his cross dressing, magical girl days.
Ayanashi no Kimi chapter 1
The story starts with a man and woman kissing. However, what’s different about this scene is the fact the guy is melting. Nothing says this shit is hot like someone falling apart like butter on a corn of cob.
“When our lips meet, you’ll disappear”
Corn Cob, now just a head and a random left hand (cuz nothing says sexy like a disemboweled left hand), smiles. He tells the girl “thank you” before shedding a buttery tear and becoming gas.
The girl watches him before falling over. I would too – that guy was hella ugly.
Wow, had this hanging in the DRAFT folder for over 4 months. Hur! Well, like they say, better late than never (or at least in the case of a late period :p).
How has everyone been? Hopefully well! It’s currently raining like crazy outside so I’m trying to be productive and work on my magazine backlog. I’ve noticed this only recently but this blog is slowly becoming a magazine only blog again haha xD (we have gone full circle, folks!).
Man, how long it’s been since my last Sylph post…yeah…………..
I’m hoping to get back into Sylph so we can remedy that. Yes…you read that right. I’ve been lapsing in my readings. So many Sylphs…so little reads…I BLAME ALL THAT STUDYING FOR MY PROMOTION! THE HELL KIND OF JOB I WORK WHERE YOU DON’T DO THE TIME FOR A PROMOTION, YOU DO THE TEST, THE OTHER TEST, AND THE TEST THAT INVOLVES PUBLIC SPEAKING. THEN ONCE HR AND YOUR SUPERVISORS ARE LIKE OK, THIS BITCH CAN DO IT, YOU’RE THROWN INTO THOSE BIG KID WATERS, BUCK NEKKID, ONE LEG BROKEN, AND YOU PRAY YOUR LITTLE HEAD CAN STAY ABOVE THE WATER BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T LEARN SHIT ABOUT HOW THE JOB WORKS FROM ANY OF THOSE TESTS…the struggle is real ;___;)9
Kinda surprised but it’s been almost a year since that horrible horrible time…ahhh…the repressed memories…change topic change topic!!! Dx
So anyway, I had written (maybe I did…or that post is still in the DRAFT folder…there are 46 of them after all…>__>) one of my goals for 2016 was to get back into Sylph, and 6 months later, I am here to accomplish that goal :P
That said, I am SO out of touch with ALL the series in Sylph. Thus these posts will be a bit bare until new series start and I can follow them ^^; (I’m too late to follow the current series…I’ll just get them in tank form and go from there…). But lucky us, the January 2016 issue has 2 new series starting! One by DADADADAN’s Mayuzumi Haruta and newcomer Tamashima Non.
Been forever since I did a Sylph post D: Man, the me who started this blog years ago would have beaten my ass with a flat tire for this blasphemy!
October’s cover is a gorgeous one, even if four out of the five boys look like they want to be anywhere else instead of posing in cosplay (the 5th one has already mentally checked out).
