Wow, had this hanging in the DRAFT folder for over 4 months. Hur! Well, like they say, better late than never (or at least in the case of a late period :p).
How has everyone been? Hopefully well! It’s currently raining like crazy outside so I’m trying to be productive and work on my magazine backlog. I’ve noticed this only recently but this blog is slowly becoming a magazine only blog again haha xD (we have gone full circle, folks!).
Man, how long it’s been since my last Sylph post…yeah…………..
I’m hoping to get back into Sylph so we can remedy that. Yes…you read that right. I’ve been lapsing in my readings. So many Sylphs…so little reads…I BLAME ALL THAT STUDYING FOR MY PROMOTION! THE HELL KIND OF JOB I WORK WHERE YOU DON’T DO THE TIME FOR A PROMOTION, YOU DO THE TEST, THE OTHER TEST, AND THE TEST THAT INVOLVES PUBLIC SPEAKING. THEN ONCE HR AND YOUR SUPERVISORS ARE LIKE OK, THIS BITCH CAN DO IT, YOU’RE THROWN INTO THOSE BIG KID WATERS, BUCK NEKKID, ONE LEG BROKEN, AND YOU PRAY YOUR LITTLE HEAD CAN STAY ABOVE THE WATER BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T LEARN SHIT ABOUT HOW THE JOB WORKS FROM ANY OF THOSE TESTS…the struggle is real ;___;)9
Kinda surprised but it’s been almost a year since that horrible horrible time…ahhh…the repressed memories…change topic change topic!!! Dx
So anyway, I had written (maybe I did…or that post is still in the DRAFT folder…there are 46 of them after all…>__>) one of my goals for 2016 was to get back into Sylph, and 6 months later, I am here to accomplish that goal :P
That said, I am SO out of touch with ALL the series in Sylph. Thus these posts will be a bit bare until new series start and I can follow them ^^; (I’m too late to follow the current series…I’ll just get them in tank form and go from there…). But lucky us, the January 2016 issue has 2 new series starting! One by DADADADAN’s Mayuzumi Haruta and newcomer Tamashima Non.

Bokura no Himitsu: from what I’m understanding of the little blurbs and the cover page, each chapter is going to focus on a different boy and his “secret.” Ohhh. Well don’t expect the secrets to be crazy like “I murdered my sister and have assumed her existence” or “I have three balls, two that change colors when the moon is full.” This is shojo meant for young ladies. I mean, if the first guy is any indication of what the “secrets” are about, they seem pretty tame, although yeah they wouldn’t be the first thing I bring up in a meet and greet. In this first chapter, we have a dude whose school used to be dudes only until reasons made it a co-ed one. Now there are girls everywhere. And they all like the main dude because he’s got that shojo hero face. However, for him, he could care less because all the girls throwing themselves at him have shitty legs. Yes, you read that right. Their legs are lame. No matter the tit size, the personality, or the face, what’s his deal breaker are them thighs – for the main dude has a secret fetish for legs. But he keeps that under wraps because…leg fetish. One day, while walking up some stairs, a girl in front of him trips and falls back into him, which causes him to fall off the stairs as well (I really think we need to get elevators or escalators for these shojo people because they do not know how to stairs). As he tries to come to his senses, he ends up touching her leg and falling in love.
Me: (◕ฺ ▿ฺ ◕ฺ)??
However, the girl has a very blunt personality and tells him to get lost. Normally this would be a good point to part ways but because the main guy found himself the meat sticks of his dreams, he flies to her rather than flees. We learn the girl is a loner because she doesn’t filter her words. She thinks you look fat in that dress, oh believe me when I say she’ll get you to stop eating from her brutal remarks. The main dude doesn’t care. Her personality isn’t what he’s in love with – it’s her legs.
Me: (◕ฺ ▿ฺ ◕ฺ)??
Due to the main dude chasing after the main girl, other girls who want the main dude’s d are super jelly and try to pick on the main girl but because of her personality, she’s like “meet me down at the parking lot and fight me.”
Them: oh shit fuck that.
At one point in the story, the other girls get violent during PE but the main guy comes in and stops them by saying their cellulose thickened, spider vein showing, wriggly chicken nuggets they call legs are nasty just like them and they need to stop being skanks and be true like the main girl. He tells everyone he likes the main girl (‘s legs <- HE ACTUALLY WHISPERS THAT PART OMG)) and the girls leave the main girl alone because they’re off to get plastic surgery done to their legs. The main girl tells the main guy he’s a fucking weirdo but she likes him and wants to hang out with him. Another turn of events is that the guys of his school now like him because they realize he’s a boy just like them, even if his fetish is with body’s overall support system and not the mammary glands.
Overall, this wasn’t a bad first chapter. It’s only cuz of the main guy’s personality that this romance had any chance of existing. I mean, when someone who knocks you down a flight of stairs calls you a creep for staring at them in a daze instead of thinking “shit I should call the nurse cuz this guy must have bumped his head,” it’s hard to picture “I want to be friends” as the next step in this interaction. Anyway, let’s see who the next boy is in February’s issue :J Will his secret top “all the drumsticks” guy?
Mahou Shojou wa Mou Inai (There Aren’t Any Magical Girls Here Anymore) – a new title by the manga-ka of DADADADAN and Kyouai Catastrophe. Seems she’s going back to her comedy roots with this new series. The chapter starts off with Magical Girl Raspberrina fighting against an alien king who wants to take over the planet. Watching her battle are her hordes of fans and FOX News. The fight is a tough one, as this alien king is pretty much the final boss in this battle. Just as the tides are turning against Raspberrina, the mysterious and well dressed White Gentlemen appears (yeah, he worked hard on that super hero name). At Raspberrina’s request, he creates a diversion while Raspberrina uses all her power in one final shot. The tactic is a successful one but using all her power causes Raspberrina’s magical wand to break, reverting her transformation. As she falls over, magic falling off her in bits of light, everyone looks on in suspense – just who is Raspberrina?
Welp, sure no one was expecting the penis.
That’s right – Raspberrina is actually a boy.
Raspberrina’s friend comes over along with I think Raspberrina’s magical mascot, Pandaco (yes he’s a panda…but has only 4 teeth…being a mascot doesn’t mean you have the greatest dental coverage apparently). In the background, we see Raspberrins’s fans looking at their stained well used body pillows a little different now that this turn of events has happened…
As the friend is checking on Raspberrina, someone teleports in front of them. The woman informs Raspberrina that it’s from her planet that Raspberrina got her magical powers as the alien king had taken over their planet and she didn’t want the same to happen to Raspberrina’s planet (FYI she’s the queen). The woman thanks Raspberrina for her hard fight. Defeating the alien king helped free the queen’s planet. Unfortunately though, Miya (his real name) will never become Raspberrina ever again but as a reward for his help she tells him she’ll grant him a power that will make any wish he has come true. Miya looks up at the night sky and then back over at the lady. He inhales and screams:
“I DON’T WANT THAT SHIT, DUMBASS. I AIN’T MESSING WITH NO MAGIC EVER AGAIN!! PLUS, CAN’T YOU SEE I’M IN PAIN HERE. THAT WAS TOO LONG OF A STORY! SHORTEN IT!” >:U
And with that, the world is saved. Miya’s life is back to normal…well sort of. The media is all over his house, wanting to interview him (love that his parents went out there and said the first person to sign a book deal with them gets all the details haha). At school, students are hesitant with how to act with Miya. An old friend of his comes over and greets him, making Miya think that life is really going to go back to normal. However, a student comes over and has beef with Miya. When the aliens attacked one time, Miya used his powers and turned the student’s smashed house into a stack of pancakes.
Student: HOW THE FUCK WAS THAT SUPPOSED TO HELP ME!? 凸ಠ益ಠ)凸
Miya: my special powers involved candy and treats. You think I asked for this? :/
Other students gather around and tell Miya to serve the student some justice. He’s Raspberrina, right? Guardian of Justice. Miya tries to explain that he’s no longer Raspberrina. He’s just an average student like them all. The angry student doesn’t listen and grabs the back of Miya’s jacket to turn him around for a punch. However, the momentum causes Miya’s hand to tap his face, sending the student flying into a wall, much to Miya’s horror. WHY DOES HE HAVE SUPER HUMAN STRENGTH? IS IT CUZ HE HAD BEEN WORKING OUT KICKING ASS SO MUCH AS RASPBERRINA!? The students who were just egging him on just moments ago grumble that what Miya did was uncalled for. How can he call himself a Guardian of Justice?
Miya: (」゜ロ゜)」 you fucking pieces of shits
Before things can get crazy, they instead go mental as a giant penguin headbutts the wall behind Miya. A boy is on top of the penguin, aiming a bazooka at Miya. He identifies himself as the alien prince, here to continue where his father left off. As the prince rambles, Miya realizes things aren’t going to transition back to normal as smoothly as he’d like. However, you have to start somewhere. He tells the alien prince he has homeroom to get to and that’s where the story ends.
An interesting start. Not sure where this is going but that’s the beauty of starting an adventure ~
- Sekihan-chan to Sumomo-kun – new shitty female rival character pisses me off. Go away please.
- Jigoku no Enra – went 50 Shades of Gray…and we have the appearance of yet another brother…this one a trap. Damn dad is fertile .___.|||
- Wakadanna Zukan – for a series focusing on hot springs, there hasn’t been much in terms of hot springs ^^; A possible female rival is going to make an appearance in the next chapter. Also…one of the character’s heads reminds me of an SOS scrub pad. That is all.
- Mimi Mimi – oh snaps. I know this manga-ka! She does stuff for ComicNext F. From what I gathered, Mimi Mimi is about a world like ours except there’s a certain population of the dudes that have animal-like characteristics (cat boys hallah). Each chapter follows a different couple. This particular chapter follows a girl and her Doberman Pinscher that turns into a dog boy. Wasn’t bad. The girl was kind of shallow in that she wanted to date a beast boy (for better lack of words) but they had to be super good looking. So I really felt kinda bad for the bear guy that had a crush on her. He had a scary face but he kept bringing flowers to ask her out. And the manga made him look like the bad guy – like he didn’t even try to rape her, and that’s usually what dudes after the main girl do. Don’t worry, bro. With My Love Story out there, you’ll have a chance with someone less superficial and see the heart inside :J I like that mom and dad didn’t even bat an eye when the dog turned into a bishi. Hell, mom even gave the dog the dad’s old clothes when he was young and wild and let me tell you – can we have a story on the dad because those clothes! A leather jacket??? No shirt. Just all skin. What did dad do before he met mom???
- Katakoi Miboujin – I did a quick flip through and lol I guess they didn’t change the story too much from the original one-shot. The dead brother is actually 13 years older than the main girl so he’s still a pedophile hur. Anyway, things are still creepy and dramatic.
- Hoshikuzu Gakuen C Course – flipped through this one as well because I’m still stuck on the original one-shot and I don’t like the change :( Drama happens when some bitch lies about getting her ipod stolen so she can hang out with some dude from the C Course. The main girl calls the girl out on her lie and the girl responds by having her posse throw the main girl in a closest to die or whatever.
Shiro Ari takes the cover of the February issue. 3LDK no Ou-sama is finishing up in the next issue. The Sylph novel Ayanashi no Kimi will have a comic version starting ~ The art is by the novel’s illustrator Sazanami Ichiya (sweet ~ another series to follow :J). Other than that, nothing more to report ~
