Finally got this baby out :3
My skills got surprisingly rusty from being away from the comp
So sorries in advance if this summary sucks
Can’t believe there’s only 2 more chapters
Then that’s it of Stray Love Hearts…
Title: ストレイ・ラブ・ハーツ！ (Stray Love Hearts or S.L.H.) Room #18
コミック・シルフ vol. 7 (2010 July)
Chapter starts with Hiyoki explaining all the stuff that happened in Room #17 – she and Kitoo got trapped in some ruins, Cain gossip running rampant and him getting a “no-confidence” issued against him, and now she’s at the last room in S Dorm.
Naturally, upon hearing Cain is now residing in S Dorm, the other S Dorm boys are all WTF!? When hearing Hiyoki is to be staying with Cain, they go, oh hell noes! We’re not letting Hiyoki stay with that man whore! They even bring up the news article, adding that even if it is all gossip, there’s still the photographic evidence of Cain glomping on to some female. In conclusion: he’s a pervert and a danger to Hiyoki!
Hiyoki thinks: hey guys! That girl is actually me! But I don’t think this is the right time to be spilling about that part (and, not sure how you guys can’t tell that’s not me since I’m the only girl in this series with that hair style but whatever – it worked like that in Sailor Moon after all). Instead, Hiyoki says that it might all just be a misunderstanding. After 4 volumes of having to deal with Cain, the boys aren’t convinced. Plus they’re not sure if they can handle Cain being here (Kuga thinks, especially Ren).
A door opens and Cain struts out. He tells the boys he’ll be out of S Dorm soon enough so there’s no need to freak out. Kitoo asks if it’s because all the gossip surrounding Cain is false. Cain replies he doesn’t see it necessary for him to answer about the rumors or to those who believe in those rumors (and this is why everyone thinks you’re a man whore Cain…because you’re not defending yourself =_=). Once the investigation committee has looked into the matter and turned up nothing, the “no-confidence” issued will have no ground. Kitoo remarks that Cain has some amazing self-confidence.
“As your senior, I’m relieved to see you looking so plucky.” *giggle*
Cain doesn’t like hearing Kitoo tease him. He grabs Hiyoki’s hand and proceeds to drag her off. However, another hand comes and grabs Hiyoki’s remaining hand, stopping them.
It’s Kuga! Kuga tells Cain Hiyoki isn’t an “object.”
“…hmph….you still aren’t aware of your heart – thus you’re nothing but a hindrance.” (I have no idea if he meant this at Kuga or Hiyoki – also have no idea if he’s talking about his own heart or hers or…Kuga’s >_> but I don’t see any reason why Kuga would be included…gah! This is why I hate the word “自分” D:<)
Kuga asks what does Cain mean by that. Cain just shrugs and leaves, saying he’ll see himself out.
Once Cain is gone, the boys try to convince Hiyoki to stay away from Cain. Kitoo offers to keep Hiyoki at his place a little longer but Kousetsu cuts him off:
“There’s absolutely no going back to previous rooms. That’s the rule…right, Hiyoki?”
He says this all creepy-like, and apparently it was creepy enough to silence the boys since the next page shows Hiyoki alone on the veranda, monologue-ing before heading into Cain’s room.
Random shot of Cain falling onto his bed with a constipated pissed off look on his face.
After the Cain service, we jump back to Hiyoki. Hiyoki is wondering to herself if Cain really is the one who took her heart – seeing as how he’s the last person in S Dorm. But then she remembers seeing him nakey back in Room #8 and there being no tattoo on his man chest. Then she thinks about how his hair isn’t long and platinum colored like the thief’s. Then she remembers Kousetsu’s words about the guy in her dream probably not looking like that in RL (which makes me wonder why Hiyoki even bothered with the first part of her monologue…). Hiyoki wonders if looking in his dream will explain everything; if it’ll explain the reason her heart hurts so much when she’s with him
Me: =_=; (is it me or do a lot of shojo heroines always question why their heart hurts/beat fast/goes crazy/etc when around a certain guy? If only these girls would read shojo…they’d easily find the answer…).
Hiyoki enters Cain’s room where a smiling Cain awaits her (looks like his constipation was fixed 8D). He tells her he’s not gonna do anything to her. Hiyoki asks why (do you WANT him to try something Hiyoki? xD). Cain says that if she’s by him, he can sleep. That’s all he’s planning on doing.
O_o; Why do you sound so disappointed Hiyoki? Maybe my joke earlier wasn’t too far off the mark…
Cain goes to sleep. Hiyoki looks at him, rethinking about the heart thief and his prominent characteristics – tattoo and platinum hair. Again she wonders if Cain is the culprit. She also asks herself why Cain has such a sad look to his sleeping face.
Hiyoki then decides the only way to find out if he’s the one is to go into his dreams.
“I want to know…”
“About what happened in that dream of yours…”
The first thing Hiyoki experiences in Cain’s dream is a blood curdling scream. She peeks into a room to see little Cain being hugged by some lady. The lady asks if Cain had a bad dream? Then she says he’s a good boy – because he’s now able to see them. I’m guessing since this is Cain’s dream, Hiyoki is able to see what the lady – who we find out is Cain’s mom – is talking about.
Cain’s mom tells Cain that she too is able to see them as well. Hiyoki is freaking out – should she have not gone into his dream?
The mom is happy that Cain developed this power, even if it did happen a lot quicker than usual. She’s also happy because this means that concubine’s child won’t manifest this power.
The scene shifts. Someone brings to Cain a boy. The boy is from a distant branch of the Kumoide line. He is to act as Cain’s servant. His name is Shizuka (wow, he looks so innocent as a kid. Hard to believe he’ll be hanging out in lockers and ventilation shafts when he gets older…). Cain does his trademark Cain smirk and remarks that he’s got a new body guard.
Shizuka Uryuu, a little scared, asks if Cain saw anything. Cain says all he’s looking at is Uryuu’s unhappy face.
Time goes by – Cain says he pities Uryuu. Being with Cain means Uryuu won’t be able to go to school. Uryuu asks what “school” is. As Uryuu combs Cain’s long locks, Cain explains how if they were normal kids, they’d be in middle school right about now, doing middle-schooler related activities like hanging out at stores after school. Uryuu remarks how knowledgeable about school Cain is.
Cain mumbles that he wants a computer – using books is so old school xD Uryuu shoots down his dreams by asking if they can get a connection all the way out here
Uryuu tells Cain he doesn’t mind that he doesn’t get to go to school or do things normal kids get to do.
You’re wrong. They’re all a form of imprisonment.
This long hair
Your blind acceptance of all this
The next scene shows Cain using a pair of scissors to go emo cut his locks. Everyone is freaking out but Cain’s mom silences them – the long hair is a just for decoration, relax! Cain has decided he doesn’t want to stick around in the Kumoide household any longer (he wants that PC dammit! He’s at that age where boys need their internet porn to live xD) His mother asks if he can survive living outside of the household to which Cain is all, bitch please. He says he’s looked into enough dreams to gather how to live on the outside.
You can never escape from the Kumoide blood…
His mother once again asks if he can survive and Cain proudly says of course. His mom sighs in acceptance of her son’s rebellion.
Before he goes, she – as the Priestess of the Kumoide family – will perform a divination for him.
Your destined one will appear
Your powers will bring you together –this girl…
This “key” may…
…Be able to grant you your heart’s desire
Cain just has on an expression that says yeah, whatever mom. He continues out the door, pausing only briefly when his mother questions out loud, what does the real you wish for?
Can you see what is it you want…Cain?
Cain monologues that since his departure he hasn’t been able to see what it is he truly wants – he was too busy being dazzled by his conviction to leave. And besides, there’s no such thing as destiny.
All he can see is the shape of despair
The scene shows a long haired Cain.
Cain’s all, who the f is bothering me in mah own dream when he turns to see Hiyoki.
Hiyoki asks if it’s “him” (implying the Heart Thief)
Then she reconsiders the thought. Cain may have the long hair but it’s not platinum nor does he have a tattoo on his nicely exposed chest. Plus he’s all O_O at seeing Hiyoki.
The dream ends and the two wake up in the same bed, hands clasping one another.
So that’s…your secret…
Cain, frowning, asks if she too has special powers. Then he sees Hiyoki crying. Hiyoki says it’s nothing as she tries to wipe her tears away. In her head she thinks, there was no reason behind all this. Instead, this was all a sign.
Cain pulls Hiyoki close and kisses her on the forehead (O_O holy!? Cain being nice!?). He mumbles how troublesome she is, for her heart is the only one he can’t figure out.
[A sign…showing the location to my “real heart”].
Cain explains that their powers were always in conflict with one another and in the end, kept cancelling one another out. Hiyoki says this must be the reason why she was always tired around Cain and also why she was unable to peer into his dreams. Cain continues, saying for Hiyoki to finally be able to enter his dreams must mean her powers have surpassed his…for some reason Cain adds bitterly xD
Hiyoki asks the burning question we’ve all been wondering: why does Cain have the ability to see into the dreams of others?
Cain then goes on to talk about the logic behind dreams blah blah. Basically the thing we care about is the part where he says looking into someone’s dream gives the viewer the ability to see the dreamer’s heart which in turn…
Allows the viewer to see the future, Uryuu finishes.
(O_O wtf!? Uryuu!? Where did you just come from!? The door is locked behind you…omg…you seriously were down there under the bed this whole time weren’t you, you sicko!)
PS I like how NO ONE is surprised to see Uryuu crawl out from under the bed or wherever he came from. After 4 volumes, everyone is all, oh that silly boy! That Uryuu is gonna go to jail one of these days for his sick perversions xD.
Anyway, Uryuu basically tries to convince Cain to come back to the Kumoide household before his powers go crazy and destroy him. Cain tells Uryuu to keep his mouth closed, which Uryuu doesn’t.
“Can’t you see it?”
“The campus is swirling in suspicion about you.”
[You’ll constantly be drowning it in – their thoughts, their hate]
“Here, you will be trapped in despair – all because of the human heart’s fragility.”
Cain looks at Uryuu and states he’s the one who got the “no confidence” issued against Cain. Uryuu says it was for Cain’s own good that he did it. This way Cain can give up on this world and go back home. Uryuu looks at something in his hand – an ORIGAMI crane (now where have we seen that before? *hint end of Room 17 hint*) – before saying:
“Although you have “destiny” by your side, I won’t let you escape.” (and proceeds to crawl back underneath the bed xD)
Hiyoki hears “destiny” and remembers what Cain’s mom said: Your destined one will appear
She asks Cain if this “destined one” is her? Cain looks at her funny.
Cain: “…you…don’t tell me you don’t know…about you and me…about…that…” (haha, love how Cain is all >_> how do I say this properly…)
Hiyoki (pointblank answer) Nope! (Nothing what so ever!)
At first Hiyoki thinks Cain is angry at her for not knowing and starts to apologize but Cain cuts her off. Don’t apologize! He’s the one at fault for being a wiener this whole time (ok, he doesn’t actually say “wiener” – he says “for being conceited” but “wiener” conveys so much more). He looks to the side, embarrassed. Hiyoki thinks to herself that Cain has a surprisingly cute side (still doesn’t make up for him being a douche the whole time but whatever floats your boat Hiyoki. I have Kuga <3).
We look outside and see a bunch of suspicious dudes in black walking by. They seem to be searching for someone…
Cain looks out the window and sees them. They’re men summoned by his family he tells Hiyoki. If Cain is forced to step down from his position as student council and becomes a normal student, his family will do everything they can to take him back – with or without his cooperation (o_o really? Because your family didn’t seem too eager to wrestle you back home in that dream of your past…). Hiyoki is shocked by how desperately his family wants him back.
Cain says he’s seen as nothing more than a “vessel” to them.
(now forgive if I get this part wrong)
He says the formation of the country (not sure if they mean his home country or where the school is) was influenced by old prophecies divined by his family.
However, the “Kumoide” power is tied to humans – “darkness” may be fostered due to this continuous interaction, which can ruin the power. Because humans are weak creatures.
Cain admits he thought his mother’s words – your destined one – meant he was to bring home a bride but…(love how Hiyoki freaks out by the word “bride”). He says their cancellation of each others power must be what she meant and that must somehow be related to the “key” his mother mentioned.
“You are mine – you are my trump card.”
The next panel shows Cain asleep. Hiyoki pulls her hand out of Cain’s. She thinks Cain sucks for saying she is “his” (he says this as if she were a sock). Even so, she can’t leave him.
It’s time for the Inquiry Committee to give their verdict. Cain is walking to the building, alone (not completely alone for I’m sure Uryuu is hanging off a tree somewhere). He notices he’s been tailed for some time now. Could it be those suits?
Whoever it is sneaks up on Cain and shoves a cloth over his nose and mouth. Cain doesn’t put up much of a fight, surprisingly =_=;
As he falls to the ground Cain recognizes the drugs on the cloth – DATE RAPE DRUGS! (Uryuu: DAMMIT! Why didn’t I think of that!?)
They are drugs made by the Kumoide family…
In the attacker’s free hand we see an origami crane.
Actually, I’m messing with you
There’s one more page
We get to see the attacker.
“Brother…Please, just disappear from here”
Now – END!
Yes. Everyone please go WTF!? Ren has gone from cute to evil ~ I’m wondering since he’s Cain’s half brother, maybe that means he’s got that special dream seeing power too…(despite what crazy mama said). Could he be the Heart Thief or is the manga-ka just messing with us? (here’s that crazy poll I keep throwing at you all 8D I wanna see if anyone’s mind changed now because of this revelation)
Unfortunately, I don’t have Room #19 so I’m in the same boat as all you ^^:
Just because Comic Sylph is now monthly (yeah!) doesn’t mean I can order from amazon.jp every month (too expensive ;_; damn monetary constraints!). So unless the RAWs pop up online, we’ll be in mystery for a little while longer ~
Until then ~
