This icon clearly expresses my feelings when watching Popotan. A nice heart warming scene would be occurring then all of a sudden: boobies. WTF!? Why!? That touching moment is now forever boobed :/ (I don’t think boobed is even a word but it is now). I don’t mind/care for fan service-y moments but there are just times when enough is enough. Later found out this series was based on a H game >_>;
Oh, that’s why it’s pretty much porn…*feels stupid*
Summary on the back:
Beautiful sisters Ai, Mai, Mii, their android maid Mea and slippery pet ferret Unagi make an amazing journey together through time and space without ever leaving their beloved mansion behind! Following the clues of the strange dandelion-like “Popotan,” the girls are theoretically seeking the person who has the answers to their most personal questions, but they seem to have more than enough time to take side trips, meet new friends, visit hot springs and occasionally operate the X-mas shop they keep in the house along the way!
Yet, the girls’ ultimate destiny holds more than a few surprises of its own, and not every moment is filled with hilarity, as moving through time means having to leave friends behind as well.
Popotan was one of those shows I should have just stopped after episode #3. It was creepy, the characters spent most of the time either naked, exposing themselves, or showing off their underwear, and it made me question if this anime could be a form of child porn.
The only reason I stuck with the show was because I wanted to know what the heck the main characters were. Why did they have magical powers? Are they some kind of alien plant species? Why did they travel around from place to place in their house? What’s up with the Christmas theme?
Sadly, we aren’t given much in the form of answers. Instead, the series just ends. No questions are ever answered. Actually, you are given more questions instead >_>;
Popotan had some…positives I guess. I found it kind of interesting the way the series brought side characters previously met in earlier episodes back into later episodes. But the way they met brought up questions (also never answered) on why they met that way .
The anime also had a nice warm feeling to it (not down there perverts) but the way it was executed failed miserably. Nothing says touching moment than a little boy confessing his feelings while taking a bath with a stranger (I lie not) =_=; I don’t know how it’s handled in Japan but people go to jail for that here in the states, regardless of the circumstances…
I can’t say much in a positive view for Popotan. It was just…not my anime. I can’t…feel comfortable watching girls (esp a little @#$%-ing kid for goodness sake!) getting naked and discussing their problems in their bathtub (which they did EVER episode). But I guess I got what I paid for: nothing (watched via Anime on Demand :3).
Feelings: Confused over the point of the story
